(Disclaimer #1: the images are REALLY BIG in dimension.)
(Disclaimer #2: I tend to disdain empty spaces, so you will see A LOT of additional commentary and notes in the collages. Horror vacui is one of my many obsessive-compulsions.)
(Disclaimer #3: Many of the reply-chunks in the collages I made are an ABSOLUTE MESS. It'll probably be hard for you to navigate the chronologies of conversations. I apologize in advance for evident leaks of Autism and ADHD into the organization of the pieces that make up the pictures.
I will begin with a collage NOT originally made by me (I think the creator of it was anonymous when uploading it to 4chan).
What you'll see is actually an expanded and re-edited version of it. The way I built upon their collage was the same style I used in future collages.
If you want to see the unmarred original, click here.
It left out many replies from the original thread that would give a more vivid elaboration and contextualization of how the original "Horror of Noon" phenomenon was concieved.
So, I added them in to show the differing perceptions and discussions among the anons of /x/.
The original's creation date and it's subject is situated at around 2019.
The picture and the /x/ thread within is the first seed transplanted from the Dvach Russian-language imageboard (Двач or 2ch.hk) to the consciousness of the English-language internet.
The posts that compose the thread are what I believe to be translations of posts from the Dvach thread which named the noon-horror phenomenon.
The two dashes (-) you will see in reply #23251854 seem to be symbols indicating the Dvach thread's separated replies between their two anons.
Or, the dashes could be a rhetorical device involving an imaginary talker asking a question to which the original poster of the Dvach thread would respond.
It's unclear whether reply #23251868 and #23255844 to #23255542 are posts from the original poster or different responders that caught onto the literary aspect of the discussion.
I also wonder if the person that made this collage-image is also the OP of the /x/ thread, and if they may also be the creator of the original Dvach thread.
But that isn't so much important as the actual information itself, now shown here:
In 2020, an /x/ thread similar to the 2019 one was made. This would establish a pattern on /x/ for a thread about noon-horror to be made once a year.
In 2021:
In 2022:
I will also show a collage of threads and posts about the horror-of-noon made in 2022 that don't measure up to the size of a yearly thread, adding one reply made in 2019:
For 2023, I assembled two collages for this year.
The first collage involves a thread with not much to go off of, due to the poor quality and sparseness of the responses.
Therefore, I expanded my search for the noon-horror on the internet, grabbing insights from the comment section of a youtube video about the phenomenon linked in the thread.
It was the first youtube video ever made about it, if I recall correctly.
The second collage documents a thread made later in the year. It was also small in substance.
The sum of the two collages for 2023 was enough though, as seen here:
